aurel Mountain Estates is located near the heart of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Doughton Park, that scenic byway's premier recreation area. It is named after Congressman Bob Doughton, who grew up in nearby Laurel Springs and is credited with routing the Parkway through this state. To the west and north flows the New River. Believed to be the second oldest river in the world, it has been designated as a National Heritage River as well as a National Scenic River. Acclaimed by fisherman for its musky and smallmouth bass, it is a favorite summer spot for canoeing and tubing. Laurel Mountain Estates is located 8.2 miles from Sparta. This bustling community is so convenient for shopping and is reminiscent of the small towns that used to dot the American countryside. It may be far from hurried life, but Laurel Mountain Estates is so convenient. We hope you will pay us a visit. From I-77, take Exit 83 onto US 21 north near Elkin. Go approximately 30 miles to Sparta. Continue through town about 3 miles to the US 21-221 intersection. US 21 turns north to Virginia. DO NOT TURN. Stay on the same road which becomes US 221 for 5.2 miles. Look for our sign on the right at the Laurel Mountain Estates entrance.From I-81, take the US 21 south exit at Wytheville. Travel about 30 miles to Independence where US 221 joins US 21. Do not turn but continue about 7 miles on US 21-221 as you cross into North Carolina. Take a right where the two highways diverge and continue on US 221 for 5.2 miles. Look for our sign on the right at the Laurel Mountain Estates entrance. From Ashe County and US 221, cross NC 113 and go 3.6 miles. Look for our sign on the left at the Laurel Mountain Estates entrance.
