Music on Main comes back for summer 2017 on the first Friday of each month, June through October. Music starts at 6 pm; stores and restaurants open at 5 pm. Downtown Sparta’s merchants, restaurants, and attractions welcome visitors with music in 6 or more venues. Check each month’s list of performers at our Blue Ridge Music Trail site (blueridgemusicnc.com- Music on Main in Sparta). Music on Main is free. We are a family and kid friendly event.
Food sales will begin at 9 AM until 1 PM, including chopped pork BBQ with sauce, 1/2 lb. and 1 lb. cups, sandwiches, BBQ chicken 1/2 or whole, cole slaw will be sold with the chopped pork BBQ.
Join Master Gardener Laurie on a 1-mile hike to view the last of the fall wildflowers of New River State Park. It is recommended to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
Join a Ranger at the Highway 221 visitor center, and learn what makes the New River one of the oldest in the world. The hike will take us on a moderate trail winding through pine forest that lead to the river’s edge, and then travels back to the visitor center with oaks and hickories overhead.

Celebrate Halloween at Trunk or Treat in Crouse Park. Decorate your vehicle for young ones to get treats from your trunk, under your hatch, or pickup bed. Costume contest at 6 PM. Prizes for best costume and best vehicle decoration. Concessions will be available.
