JOINES There will be a 15-minute intermission WHO'S WHO IN THE COMPANY: SAMANTHA STOLT (Mary Call) Samantha is the daughter of Steve and Teresa Stolt. She is a rising freshman at Alleghany High. She was a member of the Sparta Elementary Beta Club and Quiz Bowl. She is a past winner of the Soil and Water Speech contest. She is a member of the Chestnut Grove Church. This spring, Samantha represented ACT in the Alleghany Stars Talent Benefit Show in a "Witch" scene from Macbeth. "Mary Call" is her first role in a full-length play. NEWSON OLIVER (Romey) Nelson
is the son of Keith and Yvonne Oliver. He too is a rising freshman at Alleghany
High. He was an honor roll student and member of the Beta Club at Sparta
Elementary. This is Nelson's first performance in a full-length play, but
he aspires to be a future actor.
MARCELLA CAUDILL (Ima Dean)
Marcella is the daughter of Robert and Joanna Caudill. She is a rising 3rd grader
at Sparta Elementary. Marcella is a dancer at The Dance Place, and she
has been in several dance recitals. However, this is her first role in
a play. Her parents report that she never tires of coming to rehearsal
and she plans to be in future community theatre productions.
STEPHANIE STOLT (Devola)
Stephanie
is also the daughter of Steve and Teresa Stolt. She is a rising junior
at Alleghany High. She is a member of the National Art Honor Society, Beta
Club, Quiz Bowl and tennis team. She attends Chestnut Grove Church. Stephanie
also participated in the Alleghany Stars Talent Benefit Show as a "Witch"
from
MacBeth. This is Stephanie's first community theatre experience
in a full-length play.
DENNIS OSBORNE (Mr. Connell)
Dennis
is an exceptional children's teacher at Sparta School. He has taught for
24 years (22 in Alleghany). Dennis and his wife, Debbie, live in Turkey
Knob with their sons, Brandon and Daniel. Dennis has held roles in Robeson
Little Theatre productions of Camelot, where he also played Mitch
in A Streetcar Named Desire. He appeared in past Alleghany County
Theatre productions of No, No, A Million Times NO, Dark of the
Moon, The Shadowbox,
The Good Doctor, and Foxfire. JEAN SPARKS (Mrs. Connell)Jean
is the director of the Mountaineer Millennium, an after school program
for middle school students. She and her husband, Wayne, live in Sparta
with their children, Yancy and Dakota. Jean is an ACT officer. This is
her first community theatre production and she is very excited about it.
She looks forward to many more.
NICOLE KROEGER Mill Breathitt)
Nicole
is the daughter of Mark and Linda Kroeger. She is a rising 8th grader at
Sparta School. She plays volleyball and softball. This is her first theatre
experience also, but she plans to be in more plays!
KATIE BAKER (Alma) Katie
is the daughter of Darnell Baker. She is a rising freshman at Alleghany
High. She attended Piney Creek Elementary where she participated in class
plays. Katie is an athlete involved in volleyball, wrestling and softball.
She enjoys acting and art. Katie's future interests include studying sound
effects productions for movies and TV.
ERIN HOLCOMB (Hannah Jo) Erin
is the daughter of Van and Beth Holcomb. She is 12 years old and will be
going into the 8th grade at Sparta School. This is her first theatrical
experience. Erin is an athlete participating in volleyball, basketball
and softball. She is a member of the Beta Club and enjoys doing things
with her family and friends.
CHASE BAKER (Gaither) Chase
Baker is the son of Darnell Baker. He is 14 years old and will be a sophomore
at Alleghany High School. Chase enjoys building models of any kind and
also building rockets.
ALEXANDRA CESARE (Lacey) Allie
is the daughter of Ray and Kim Cesare of Ennice. She is a rising 9th grader
at Crabapple Home School. Her hobbies include reading, spinning, writing
and drawing. She has 1 brother and 4 sisters. This is her first community
theatre experience, although she has taken part in several home school
plays.
HANNAH CESARE (Molly) Hannah
is also the daughter of Ray and Kim Cesare. She is a rising 3rd grader
at Crabapple Home School. She loves to grow great cucumbers! She is a tomboy
at heart. "Molly" is her first theatrical role.
JUSTIN NEAVES (Chester) Justin
is the son of Mike Neaves and Sherry Hash. He is 14 years old and an upcoming
freshman at Alleghany High School. This is his first experience in a full-length
production. Justin loves music, and he will be providing the music for
the wedding scene. While at Sparta School, he was a member of the Beta
Club and was an honor roll student.
DAKOTA SPARKS (Sammy Lee)
Dakota
is the daughter of Wayne and Jean Sparks. She is a rising 8th grader at
Sparta School. She plays basketball and enjoys outdoor activities. She
owns 4 goats, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a ferret and a chameleon. She plans to become
a vet. This is her first theatrical experience.
LISE BLOODWORTH (Goldie Pease)
Lise
is the daughter of Edwin and Laura Bloodworth. She is 16 years old and
a junior at Alleghany High School. She is a dancer at The Dance Place and
also displays her vocal talents in choir. She played a "Witch" from Macbeth
on behalf of ACT in the Alleghany Stars Talent Benefit Show in April. This
is Lise's first full-length play for community theatre. She looks forward
to future involvement with Alleghany Community Theatre.
TOM RECTOR (Preacher) Tom
was a member of the Trojan Playmakers at Alleghany High School under the
direction of Debbie Brady. Some of his favorite roles were in Arsenic
and Old Lace and The Diary of Anne Frank. Most recently, Tom
participated in the ACT portion of the Alleghany Stars Benefit Show by
playing "Jerry" from Nuptials and "Brick" from Cat on a Hot Tin
Roof. He is very happy about the reorganization of ACT and looks forward
to many more productions.
ROBBIE PRESNELL (Kiser Pease)
Robbie
is a mail carrier for the Sparta Post Office. He lives in Sparta with his
wife, Paula. They have one son, Robbie, who serves in the United States
Air Force and is stationed in Spokane, Washington. Robbie professes to
be an "old hippie" who enjoys music and drama. His past theatrical experiences
were mainly in the technical realm of productions at Catawba College.
PAULA JOINES (director of Lilies)Paula
is a Speech-Language Pathologist and birth-kindergarten teacher for Alleghany
County Schools. Her family includes daughter, son-in-law and grandson --
Kelaiya, Jerrold, and Austin Davis; son Justin LeMasters and daughter Jordan
Joines. Paula was an alpha member of the Trojan Playmakers at AHS under
the direction of David Reynolds. She earned an Associate of Fine Arts degree
from Wilkes Community College, where she was a member of the college troupe
under the direction of Bud Mayes. Some of her favorite roles with the Trojan
Playmakers were in Fiddler on the Roof, Our Town, Dracula,
and
Godspell. Rolls with WCC included Marat/Sade, Carousel
and Hot l Baltimore. Paula's past performances with Alleghany County
Theatre (under the direction of David Briggs, Lura Myers and Debbie Brady)
include The Shadowbox, Dark of the Moon, Brigadoon,
and Foxfire. Most recently she performed with the Wilkes Playmakers
in the title role of Sylvia (who was a dog) and as "Mrs. Carpenter"
in Nuptials. This is Paula's first experience in directing a full-length
production.
RUTH JOHNS (Assistant Director)
Ruth
recently retired from the Alleghany County Schools as a Spanish teacher.
She has taught drama at the high school level. Ruth has directed productions
and been a coordinator for community theatre prior to her involvement with
ACT.
KELAIYA DAVIS (Stage Manager)
Kelaiya
is a real estate salesperson with Reeves Auction and Realty in Sparta.
She lives in Piney Creek with her husband Jerrold and son Austin. Kelaiya's
prior theatrical experiences include roles in AHS productions of Robin
Hood (under the direction of Jeff Parsons), Don't Rock the Boat
(under the direction of Sara McMillan), and Down-Home Stories on
the Stage (under the direction of Donna Link). She studied theatre
arts at Wilkes Community College, performing in the Sweetheart Dinner Theatre.
Her most recent role was "Kitty" in the Wilkes Playmakers' production of
Nuptials.
This is her first experience stage managing a production.
BEN SMITH (Lights) Ben
is 16 years old and attends Williston-Elko High School. He is the son of
BJ Edwards. Ben played the part of "Prince Charming" in the musical Into
the Woods. He is the light man.
BJ EDWARDS (Sound) BJ
is an exceptional children's teacher at Alleghany High School. She and
her husband Junior live in Sparta. She is the mother of Ben Smith, Hillary
Smith and Lucas Edwards. |
