Marion Adams (Mildred Carson) is making her second appearance on the ACT stage, having wowed audiences as Clairee in Steel Magnolias this summer. Off-stage, Marion is the Director of the Pre-School at the United Methodist Church, where she also serves as organist and choir member. Active in a variety of community organizations, Marion is currently President of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization of women educators in Ashe and Alleghany Counties. One of her favorite volunteer endeavors is working at the Thrift Store at Alleghany Cares, where she can see people helped in so many ways. Marion presently serves on the board of Alleghany Cares. Other hobbies include reading and walking. Marion lives in Sparta with her husband Ed, an attorney who shares her love of music and the arts.
Susan Q. Landreth (Faye McFaye) is a Fine Arts - Drama student at Wilkes Community College and is helping construct the set for their production of Dracula scheduled for late October. She also holds an Associates Degree in Business Administration from WCC. A new member of ACT, Susan was the Technical Director and Assistant Director for Nuptials, and debuted on-stage as Shelby in Steel Magnolias. Susan was recently elected to the ACT Board as the Distributor of the Social Calendar, a monthly listing of nearby theatre productions and events. Originally from Delaware, she has been an Alleghany resident for 14 years. Susan would like to thank her late husband, Walt, for showing her that "the only limits you have are the ones you put on yourself." She would also like to thank her cast-mates for their love, support, and most of all, their laughter.
Kathy Mizerak (Ruthann Barns) makes her acting debut. A veteran teacher of 24 years, she currently teaches third grade at Sparta School. Kathy has three children: Scott, a senior at NC State; Megan, a junior at Appalachian; and Erik, who attends the Marine Mechanics Institute in Orlando, FL. Now that she and her husband are empty nesters, Kathy decided to try her hand at acting has really enjoyed the experience.
Karen Atwood (Naomi Farkle) is making her second appearance with ACT, having appeared earlier this year as Barbara in Nuptials. She would like to thank everyone involved with ACT for making the productions fun. Karen and her supportive husband, Bob, reside in Sparta.
Thomas M. Rector (Delbert Fink) was last seen onstage in ACT's productions of All My Sons and Kenny and Raymond, and directed this spring's successful production of Nuptials. Other stage credits include Arsenic and Old Lace and The Diary of Anne Frank. Tom currently serves as 1st Vice-President of ACT, is a self-employed, single dad, a screenwriter, author, and recently started Bluespy Films, his own local production company.
Bob Bamberg (Luther Carson) has been instrumental in his role of ACT Treasurer for the last two years. He has worked behind the scenes in many facets - set construction, advertising, and workshop arrangements to name a few. Previous onstage appearances include Dr. Lawing in Nuptials. His work with various theatrical groups includes performances in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and L'il Abner. Bob and his wife, Ruth, reside in Twin Oaks with their dogs.
Jennifer Tracy (Violet Farkle) makes her acting debut with ACT. She served on the Technical Crew for Steel Magnolias. Jennifer is a first grade teacher in Stokes County and is also a NC Emergency Medical Technician. Her husband, John, is a paramedic in Surry County. Jennifer is the mother of Travis, age 8 and Brooke, age 3 1/2, who really keep her hopping! Jennifer moved with her family to Alleghany County five years ago to enjoy a slower-paced lifestyle with lots of snow! When she has a spare minute, Jennifer enjoys scrapbooking and rubber stamping.
Jean Sparks (Gladys Pimbleton) is the Director of Mountaineer Millennium, an after-school enrichment program for middle school students. Jean has appeared in previous ACT productions as Mae-Ella in Nuptials, Mrs. Maxwell in Shock of His Life, and Mrs. Connell in Where the Lilies Bloom. Jean says that she really enjoys the teamwork involved in putting a play together and she loves acting. Once again, ACT is a family affair, with Jean serving as a Board Member and daughter Dakota actively involved backstage with every production. Jean and her husband, Wayne, also have a son, Yancy, a student at NC State.
Michael "Poss" Hamm (Bubba Bedford) manages New River Country Club in Twin Oaks. This is his third attempt at the stage and his most challenging role to date. Says Poss, "Bubba is a deep, complex character that is often misunderstood." Poss also appeared as George Deever in All My Sons and the hellion H. Gerald Parker in Nuptials. Poss would like to thank his fans for all their support, and invites everyone to enjoy the show.
